Robert Lee Lawrence, 77, of 100 Crusader, Gwinn, entered eternal life early Sunday morning, January 30, 2005, at his home.
Born February 12, 1927 in Marquette, the son of LeRoy and Gertrude (Schmeltzer) Lawrence, he lived in Marquette prior to entering the US Navy in 1945, serving near the end of World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1947. In the early 1950’s he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There he met Regina Kuchta from Crivitz, Wisconsin, and the couple was married in July of 1955. Bob was employed for many years in the automobile industry, particularly the American Motors Plant in Milwaukee, and retired as a supervisor. Following retirement, he moved to Gwinn where he has resided for the past fourteen years. Bob was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn, was active in the Gwinn Senior Center, and assisted with delivering meals to the elderly. While in Milwaukee, he was very active in the Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia (James) Antonia of Cudahy, WI; a son, John Thomas Lawrence of Mt Clemens; his grandchildren, Amber and Daniel Antonia; a sister, Florence Mae (Thomas) Loney of Oxford; his aunt, Florence Kulvicki; his special friend and companion, Martha Oberti of Gwinn; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Regina on March 24, 1980.
Private family services and inurnment will be held in Cudahy, Wisconsin.
