Roger Edward Koski, 52, of 232 Silver Creek Road, Harvey, entered eternal life Sunday evening, January 9, 2005, at Marquette General Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He had been hospitalized for the past eleven days.
Born March 2, 1952 in Ishpeming, a son of Edward A. and Edna E. (Hautio) Koski, Roger was raised in Harvey and was a 1970 graduate of the Marquette Senior High School. He was a lifelong Harvey resident. Roger was self-employed in the excavating business and owned and operated R.K. Trucking for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with friends. Roger was also an avid snowmobiler and was very proud that, while in high school, he won first place in the Traverse City 250 Snowmobile Race. He continued to compete and place in various races through the years. He was known for his generous heart and sense of humor. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Edward A. Koski in 1998.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Koski and fiancée, Lowell Conklin of Gladstone; a brother, Steve (Jill) Koski of Harvey and niece, Elizabeth Koski at Michigan State University; his sister, Priscilla (Don) Rossow and nieces, Ashley and Alexandra Rossow of Olympia, WA; his special “daughter”, Raygina Pawelski of Munising; his former wife, Karen Just of Harvey; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Harvey on Wednesday, January 12, beginning at 4:00 pm. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 5:00 pm with Rev. Chrysande Levesque, pastor, officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
