Michael Jon Kantola, 23, of 618 Lake Street, Negaunee, entered eternal life Friday, January 28, 2005, at his residence.
Michael was born July 27, 1981 in L’Anse, a son of Mike W. and Jean M. (Dawson) Kantola, and resided in L’Anse until the age of seven when the family moved to Marquette. He was a 1999 graduate of the Marquette Senior High School and, following graduation, became employed at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee where he was in training with the CeNA (Certified Nurse’s Aide) program. Michael had a very upbeat personality and never let life get him down. He was always the perennial optimist and had a blast with everything. Michael’s future plans included entering college where he hoped to pursue a career as an English teacher. An accomplished, mostly self-taught, guitarist, he enjoyed playing for family and friends. In his leisure, Michael was an avid reader and creative writer, and loved to take walks. Michael was currently a member of the Long Ridge Writers Group in West Redding, Connecticut, a group that wrote and exchanged short stories for critical review. His humorous and vibrant outlook was the hallmark of his life and will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.
Survivors include his father, Mike W. Kantola of Harvey; his sister and family, Tia and Scott Rodda; nephew, Dakota, and niece, Shianne of Ishpeming; brother, Chris Kantola of Harvey; his maternal grandmother, Marie Tuck of Savannah, GA; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Marie Kantola in 2002; and by his grandparents.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Thursday, February 3, beginning at 3:00 pm. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 5:00 pm Thursday evening with Rev. Kevin Taylor officiating. |
