Benjamin (Fred) Bowers, 84, formerly of Iron River, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette. He was involved in a car accident last January.
He was born January 21, 1920 in Paris, MI. to parents Jesse & Alice (Van Arman) Bowers. He attended school in Northville. After serving 3 years in the Army during World War II, he married Helen M. Keelan in 1949, in Cadillac. They settled in Traverse in the early 1960’s, and Ben worked for Cone Drive until retirement in 1982, and later for Alken Ziegler in Kalkaska. He was a member of the Bayview Wesleyan Church.
In 1995, Ben moved to the Crystal Falls-Iron River area to be closer to nieces and nephews in Sidnaw. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, and a brother, Jesse Bowers.
Fassbender Funeral Home in Marquette is handling cremation, and a service will be held in Traverse City in the spring. |
