Dolores Y. Salmi, 69, of 111 Alderbrook, Beaver Grove, entered eternal life Sunday evening, November 28, 2004, at her home, following a lengthy illness.

Dolores was born June 6, 1935 in Munising, a daughter of Tydo and Vilma M. (Leppanen) Johnson, and was raised in Eben.  She left school and later returned, receiving her diploma through the Adult Education Program.  Dolores resided in Eben until 1981 when she moved to the Marquette area.  Throughout the years, she was employed in a variety of jobs, from working as a secretary at the Munising radio station, being employed as a cook at the Eben School, to working for CCI Wood Products plant, retiring due to disability.  In her leisure, Dolores was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.

A loving mother, proud grandparent, and sister, she is survived by three daughters, Tena Bailey of Beaver Grove, Sheila (Norman) Bonner of Munising, and Roxane Salmi of Lower Michigan; a son, Kim (Tina) Salmi of Negaunee; her grandchildren, Chad, Joshua, Breanna, Joy, and Shane (Jennifer) Salmi, Ryan, Jason, Beau, Justin, and Adam McGee; two great-granddaughters, Savannah Salmi and Madison Cox; three sisters, Barbara (Carl) Johnson of Kokomo, IN, Paula (Chuck) Routsala of Sault Ste Marie, MI, and Penny Sadak of Munising; her brother, Daniel Dallas of Gaylord; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacey Salmi; son-in-law, Tom Bailey; a sister, Phyllis Bagwell; and her former husband, Kaino Salmi.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham.  The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family.
