OBITUARIES

Louise Mrozowski
Resided in Marquette, MI
Died Novemeber 29, 2004

Louise Baron McSherry Mrozowski, 84, formerly of 207 Sandstone Drive, Marquette, entered eternal life early Monday morning, November 29, 2004, at the Norlite Nursing Center.  She had resided at Norlite since 2002.

Born March 1, 1920 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, a daughter of John and Agnes (Poremba) Baron, Louise grew up in a large family on a dairy farm in Lakewood, Pennsylvania.  In 1938 she met and married Thomas McSherry, and together they moved to Long Island, New York, where they established their home and began to raise a family; which included daughter, Marie, and sons, Tom and John.  In 1963, at the age of 47, her husband, Tom, died unexpectedly.  Hardworking Louise found a job at Abraham and Strauss, a famous, fancy New York City department store, to support her family.  She would soon find herself in charge of the department for coats, suits, and bathing suits.  The changing seasons meant a lot of work moving one type of stock out and the next in.  Louise was praised as a highly competent worker.

In 1968 she met and married Joe Mrozowski and life became happier.  He was a wonderful husband and step-father, along with a glorious “Pappa Joe” to the grandkids that began arriving.  Joe and Louise left the New York area upon retirement, and moved to the sunny shores at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which was very special to the couple.  Joe died in 1988 and, in 1990, Louise moved to Marquette to be closer to family.

A loving mother, devoted grandparent, and sister, she is survived by her daughter, Marie Watanen of Marquette; son, John (Kathy) McSherry of Sandpoint, ID; her grandchildren, Liisa and Max Anderson, and Lydia and Jeff Taylor of Marquette; Courtney, Caitlin, and Quinn McSherry of Sandpoint, ID, and Thomas and William McSherry of Long Island, NY, and John and Shannon McSherry of Redding, PA; great-grandchildren, Alex Watanen, Jacob and Dylan Taylor of Marquette; her sister, Helen Miluszusky of Pennsylvania; and brothers, Ed Baron and Alec Baron both of upstate, NY; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husbands, Louise was preceded in death by her son, Tom McSherry in 2002; a son-in-law, John Watanen; a sister, Viola Kulesza; brother, Leonard Baron; and three half-sisters and three half-brothers.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 30, beginning at 5:00 pm.  A Service of Remembrance will follow at 7:00 pm with Leon Jarvis, Marquette General Hospital chaplain, officiating.  Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery.
