Sandra Lynne (Maves) Smith, 39, of Madison, Wisconsin, and former Marquette resident, died October 20, 2004, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI.

Sandra was born May 13, 1965 in Petoskey, beloved daughter of Wayne and Marcia (Ecker) Maves.  She grew up in Petoskey and attended St. Francis Elementary School and graduated from Petoskey High School.  She later attended three years at Northern Michigan University, Marquette.  On August 24, 1991 she married Patrick Smith, of Marquette, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey.  She was the daughter-in-law of the late James A. and Margaret E. (Menhennick) Smith of Marquette.  Sandra loved working with children, camping, biking, and all outdoor activities.  She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison, WI.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Patrick Smith of Madison, WI; her parents, Wayne and Marcia Maves of Petoskey; sister, Christine (Charles) Muller of Petoskey; and brothers, David (Kim) Maves of Petoskey, Stephen (Lynne) Maves of Indianapolis, IN, and James (Jean) Maves of Petoskey; and nieces and nephews, Keegan and Connor, Joshua and Brittany, and Jamie and Shelly.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, October 23, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey.  Burial will be made in Greenwood Cemetery, Petoskey.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Gift of Life.
