Cecilia E. Ellis, 88, of 302 Lost Creek Drive, Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday morning, October 9, 2004, at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming.
Born June 22, 1916, in Marquette, a daughter of Alfred and Celina R. (Gauthier) Durocher, Cecilia was raised in Gwinn and was a 1934 graduate of the Gwinn High School. On June 22, 1939 she married George Joseph Ellis and the couple began establishing their home and raising a family. A homemaker, she enjoyed bird watching, and had been a member of the VFW Auxiliary for over 20 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Rose (Ronald “Red”) Michelson of Marquette; three sons, John Michael (Pat) Ellis of Farmington Hills, George J. (Liz) Ellis, Jr of Marquette, and David Leo Ellis of Sturgeon Bay, WI; her grandchildren, Scott Michelson, Tracy (Tony) Maki, Kerry (Paul) Bandle, Michael (Carlene) Ellis, and Vicki (Sam) Juvonen; great-grandchildren, Alex Maki, Marisa, Lauren, Connor, Cody, and Dale Juvonen, Abby and Alisha Bandle, and Ross, Lynnae, and Eva Ellis; two sisters, Jeanette Spalding of LaPorte, IN and Grace (Raymond) Carlson of Lewiston, ID; a brother, Paul (Marilyn) Durocher of Cottonwood, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, in 1984; a sister, Isabelle Bosworth; and brothers, Clarence, William, Louis, Aurele, and Alfred Durocher.
Friends may call at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Monday, October 11, beginning at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 pm Monday afternoon with Rev. Alex K. Sample, as celebrant. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held in the church fellowship hall. |
