Nancy T. (Dionne) Thorne, 68, of 810 Ontario Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal life Thursday morning, September 2, 2004, at her home, in the loving comfort and care of her family.
Born October 27, 1935 in Munising, the daughter of Adolph and Dorothy (Henning) LaFave, Nancy was raised in Marquette, and was a graduate of the Bishop Baraga High School Class of 1954. She married Leslie A. Dionne and the couple set about establishing their home and raising a family. Throughout the years, Nancy worked at a variety of employments, Jean’s Jewelry, Wisti and Jaaskelainen Attorneys, Bannon Janitorial, and the Traverse Bay Woolen Company. She was very devoted to her family, loved to read, and was an avid fisherman. Her husband, Leslie, preceded her in death on November 21, 1971. She later married Donald A. Thorne on December 7, 1972, and the couple formed, owned, and operated D & N Construction which involved spending their winters in Odessa, Texas. Nancy assisted with the operation of the business until Don’s health necessitated closure of the business. Don preceded her in death on October 20, 1998. Nancy was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Kelsey of Marquette; three sons, Gary (Linda) Dionne and Peter Dionne both of Marquette, and Raymond (Kathy) Thorne of Bartlesville, OK; grandchildren, Jamie Ronn, Mindy (Jason) Jenkins, and Leslie Kelsey; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Kyle Jenkins, and Hailey Ronn; as well as several Thorne family grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Nancy was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Thorne.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Saturday, September 4, beginning at 12:00 noon. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon with Rev. Alex K. Sample, officiating. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. |
