MARQUETTE – Raymond F. Beaudette, age 69, of 201 Cherry Creek Road, Harvey, entered eternal life Monday, November 28, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital in the loving care of his family. Ray was born June 26, 1942 in Dearborn, a son of Axel and Beatrice (Beaudette) Olson and was raised in Marquette along the Big Bay Road. He entered the US Army at the age of 17 and served in Germany during the Vietnam Era. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Marquette, working as an orderly at the former St. Luke’s Hospital. It was there that he met his future wife, Mary Louise Helt, and on October 23, 1965 the couple was married. Together they established a home and raised six children in Marquette. Ray later worked for the Raish Oil Company as a heating technician before enrolling at the Jacobetti Skill Center where he studied to become an appliance repair technician. He then worked in a civil service capacity at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in housing maintenance for a time. His longest employment, however, was with Northland Appliance as an appliance repair technician, working over 25 years. He retired in 1995, but continued on a part-time basis until 2002 when he retired due to health concerns. Ray enjoyed fishing, cribbage, chess, shooting pool, and going to the casino. He was a member of Richard Jopling Post #44 of the American Legion, a former member of the Moose Lodge, a member of the Salvation Army, and was a member of the Marquette Housing Commission for three years while residing at Pine Ridge Apartments. Ray is survived by his children, Tom (Cheryl) Beaudette and David (Dawn) Beaudette of Gwinn, Rachel Beaudette, Tammi (Scott) Beaudette-Moore of Gwinn, Lloyd (Miranda) Beaudette of Newcastle, DE, and Nicole Rae Beaudette of Marquette; several grandchildren, among them, Samantha, Alicia Rae, Rayne, Richard Raymond, Robert, Ashleigh, Dsean, Caitlin Rae, Cameron Ray, Carson, Destiny, Trinity, Mikey, and Alexander Jason Beaudette; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Forsberg of Lower Michigan; brothers, Richard (Maxine) Golanda and Eugene (Glenda) Golanda of Arizona, Leonard Beaudette of Royal Oak, and Robert (Beverly) Beaudette of Wyandotte; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Beaudette on July 8, 2002; sister-in-law, Janice Beaudette; and brother-in-law, Keith Forsberg. Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3, from 1:00 pm the time of service at 3:00 pm. Rev. Leon Jarvis, Marquette General Hospital chaplain, will preside. A potluck dinner will follow at the Marquette Salvation Army. Condolences may be expressed online at www.fassbenderfuneralhome.com
